There’s something very Pratchetty about the wizard thinking about his beard at the end of the world, hilarious! And I’m like 105% certain that you filled the few first paragraphs with such obscure names to batter the reader properly now that you got their attention.

I can’t think of higher praise for this story than having it be considered Pratchetty. Thank you so much! And truly, no better way to stress test a fantasy reader than giving them a deluge of names.

"Across the darkness of a sky untouched by creation, upon which the Night Daughter’s eyes and the Day Brother’s visage graced only from the horizon, a band of white nothingness grew."

after setting up the existence of the night daughter in the previous para, the appearance of the day brother was a rather wonderful payoff, bravo!

Thanks so much, James! Really appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Haha, this was really cute and funny. Love the ridiculous fantasy names (why do we do this to ourselves?)

I assume this is just another day for our wizard Brian.

I blame Tolkien. Dude had a reason for his names, but he set the standard for naming that so many other fantasy writers feel the need to emulate (usually with miserable results) instead of just trying to do their own thing.

But yes, I’d love to come back to this at some point and do a Day in the Life of Brian, but I fear it would end up with someone being crucified.

The Life of Brian you say?

(What, I can't add an image to a comment on a post?!) <inserts Monty Python reference>

Well, Brian does seem like one who would always be looking on the bright side, at very least...even if images of him can't come through.

This is great! I love how there's urgency, but it's not too serious for something so short, and there's plenty of humor that really connects us to this world! We don't need too much to really understand the story, and I kind of like the idea of a silly old wizard keeping creation around by singing!

Thank you! Appreciate the read and your break down of it. I’m glad you connected with Brian and that you found the humor enhancing the overall plot. It was a lot of fun to write, so glad to know it was also fun to read!

Loved this one... every little unrecreated bit of it.

Well done!

Thank you!

Brian is obviously in his coquette era and I'm here for it.

You’re all welcome. He rhymed that trend into existence.
